TEA: The Ritual and The Art
Celebrating Culture And Practice

Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony – April 15th, 2017 - Georgia Museum of Agriculture Peanut Museum

Plough Gallery will be filled with juried tea bowls and teapots to coincide with an evening at
the Georgia Museum of Agriculture celebrating and witnessing the ritual of the traditional tea ceremony.

The Japanese Tea Ceremony celebrates the traditional rite of tea that has been a part of Japanese culture for over 1,000 years. Flowing movements, a harmony of respect and presentation make for an intimate and memorable experience. The chawan, or tea bowl, is the vessel used for preparing and drinking tea. Historically from China, the Japanese adopted the form to recognize and elevate their culture over centuries.
